Eternal Win Thanks to Gameplan and Teamwork

The Eternal looked good in their win over the fuel, and although many of their players had great performances, it was their teamplay that took them to the next level. The Fuel should be proud of how they performed, but in the end, the Eternal were too much. The compositions and strategies the Eternal formed were solid and difficult for Dallas to break down. Now for some examples.

Lijiang Tower

Playing Soon and Nicogdh surprised some fans given Xzi's and especially Sp9rk1e's level of play lately, but personally, I'm a huge Soon fan. This wasn't a decision for the sake of their individual talent, however. It was to create a compositional mismatch that would shutdown everything the Fuel wanted to do.

The Fuel ran D. Va and Winston which got annihilated almost immediately in the first fight. The Eternal's composition, featuring Rein and Sigma, simply has more front line power. The Eternal provided no easy dive targets, leaving the Fuel's tank line irrelevant. The DPS for Dallas as well was completely shut down by the Symmetra and the Mei, giving the Paris 99%. The Fuel were able to cap, but all Soon needed to do was secure one hack on Sombra to make space for the blizzard and the Paris took round 1. It was compositional play like this that won the Paris the series. Check out the video for more on these maps!

Hanamura

Soon and Nicogdh were swapped out for Xzi and Sp9rk1e on Hanamura and they still dominated Doha and Decay. This was closer to a mirror-match, but Sp9rk1e and Xzi outperformed their opponents. This map, after both teams captured both points, did end up falling onto Xzi's shoulders. Doha had his blade ready to go, but Xzi hit a clutch headshot to completely eliminate him from the conversation. The Eternal capitalized, and Xzi was able to take more aggressive sightlines since the Genji couldn't pressure him. The Fuel wouldn't even be able to contest the point as the Eternal took the map.
