FlyQuest Will Prove to Be Big Test for Counterlogic Gaming

As another week of LCS action kicks off, many eyes will be on this matchup as both teams are currently tied at 3-1. Most of the focus will be on breakout player Solo for FlyQuest, but CLG has an opportunity to prove all of their doubters wrong.

After being doubted for their wins coming against three of the weakest teams in the league, Counterlogic Gaming will face their first strong opponent since Week 1 of the split. Many analysts and fans alike have claimed they are the most overperforming team in the league and don't expect them to remain their second place position for long, even past this week. Specifically, the Dive podcast discussed this in depth, so check that out for more information.

This matchup can come down to the impact that CLG's playmakers can have on the game away from top lane as Solo will look to shut down Ruin early. I believe that this isn't too hard of an ask though. The improvement has shown from CLG (who, as a fun fact, were the first time I ever watched in the LCS) just from last split. Improvement does not mean greatness, though, and Flyquest are definitely the favorites for this match. Even in traditional sports, the rebuilding process of a team takes a while, sometimes years, so it's exciting to see this team flip the narrative so quickly. As this young team looks to take down FlyQuest, I think the draft could be the difference maker. If FlyQuest is able to win out the draft, I can't see CLG taking down FlyQuest with Solo performing the way he is and the rest of the playmakers on the FlyQuest roster, who aren't getting as much attention as they deserve. Individually, I think CLG can keep it close, so it will definitely be worth your time to watch this key matchup this weekend.

I think Santorin and Wiggily facing off in the jungle might be an underrated matchup to keep an eye on. Cloud9 have dominated this split with early jungle leads and forcing early pressure. If other teams try to emulate this, it will be interesting to see if these teams try something decisive or if they focus their playstyles elsewhere. As always, thanks for reading!
